Default Gate Guards - Static Displays

MCAS Beaufort.

F3J Fury on a stick, F8 Crusader, F4 Phantom, F/A 18 Hornet out front and an A-4 just past the entrance.

Any other good non-museum static displays?

NAS Key West - RA-5C Vigilante
(inside the gate - so not much of a guard really)

NAS Oceana has a little bit of everything right inside the front gate on the left. Probably the biggest display I have seen.

Been a while since I've been there (thankfully) but I was always impressed by the line of statics at Dyess AFB.

For gate guard stories though, I think nothing beats the 22,000lb British Grand Slam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_(bomb) and Grand Slam bomb - YouTube) that used to be outside RAF Scampton. Years after WW2 when they went to move it to widen the road, they eventually discovered the reason it was so heavy was because it was still live.

Once had photos of the event, can't find them anymore but there's a wikipedia reference at RAF Scampton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not gate guards, but the static display near the NSAWC building is extensive.

Been there recently 73M?
Which one still has VMFA-115 markings on it?

From memory:
F3J Fury on a stick (VMFA-115), F8 Crusader (VMFA-122), F4 Phantom (VMFA-251), F/A 18 Hornet (VMFA-312) out front and an A-4 (HAMS-31?)

Best looking jets ever (A-6E and EA-6B ) posted along the road into Oak Harbor, WA. Not just gate guards, but guarding the whole town. Fully loaded Intruder guarding the front gate, and a Prowler on the base standing guard at the memorial for all the Prowler crews lost over the years.

Seymour Johnson has a F-15, F-4D, F-86, A-10, F-100, F-4E, F-105, and a Spitfire.

All on the base though.
