Default FAR Part 121 Question

A lot of the on-line apps I've been filling out ask specifically if you have FAR Part 121 experience. As a C-5 and C-9 driver, I hate to answer "no" because I'm concerned that a "no" answer automatically excludes you from the list. Heavy drivers and cargo haulers, however, have been doing a job that is equivalent to FAR Part 121 ops.

What do y'all think? Do you think I should stick with "no" or switch to "yes" and just explain the equivalency idea if I were to get an interview?

if you put yes -- it does not match your resume -- which is probably worse in some cases -- stick to the facts -- military only is not 121

Unless you are applying to a carrier that has never hired a military heavy pilot - I'd say you had better stick with the clear meaning of the application and not try to word yourself around it. I mean what reputable carrier do you know of that automatically excludes military heavy pilots?

Just say no. Not worth opening up the "honesty" can of worms.

Companies out there know what C-5's and C-9's do.

You are better off with military heavy time than regional 121 time.

Unless you operated under FAR 121, the answer is no. No grey area.

Dude,

Read and heed. You can explain the mil time to the interviewer. But if you say no "I don't have actual 121 time", I'd expect the door behind you to open you be asked to leave. Where would you be applying that would care?
