Any crewman involved in Air to Ground delivery would do well to read the Tarnak Farms investigation and listen/watch the tapes, obviously these are covered by privilege. In a good squadron the senior Bro's should do this on a Friday in the bar without the Sqdn leadership present so they could impart the real lessons learned in that incident. We did the same when the black hawks were shot down. Luckily the skipper was not a cool-aid drinker and gave us the lessons we really needed to get out of that. I don't have much faith in most Sqdn/CC's to give you the unwritten rules of how to survive in theater and in your career, except they would tell you to cover your ass. For that matter, how many of the junior bro's know how to deal with a Tailhook type situation. The past 20 years have been rife with examples of how your senior leadership can come after you. It is a sad statement to say that most of us define our careers by how many witchhunts we have survived. I will also say that if you are innocent a courts-martial is your best bet, but if you are guilty it is the last place you want to be. If you are innocent the prosecution actually has to prove things in a courts-martial, where an NJP/article 15 is nothing more than a plea agreement. Good for that AC for winning in court. I'd hate to be the CC who has to tip toe around that on his OPR. That AC sounds like good Guard material.
