Well at least our UAV brothers now have a medal that is ranks higher in precedence than the Purple Heart and Bronze Star... I heard if they put in the code for unlimited lives to Contra before their sortie starts they get a "V"...

I am a Distinguished Graduate out of UPT, volunteered to FAIP regardless of the fact that I was number 1 in my class and could have chosen anything else, I have flown and worked my ass off since I've been in the Air Force, have received all Q1's with zero downgrades and over a dozen commendables on all my checkrides, but according to the latest Major board results I have a 21% chance of making Major because I do not have a Masters degree in basket weaving from Phoenix University.
What's the fascination with current and former MIL going to Phoenix University? It seems every ground pounding guy I know who went to the sand box a few times, came home and started going to Phoenix University.

I am usually very tolerant of this forum, but this whole thread made me puke in my mouth. Especially these SNAPS with a sense of entitlement. First of all, if I ever made DG in some imaginary AF ranking program, the last thing I would do is try to justify my promotion potential based on such accolades. I never considered myself an "old head", but after 13 years and 11 months after my commission with 14 OEF/OIF/OND deployments, 17 Air Medals, 2 Air Achievement Medals, over 2200+ "combat" hours, never OG exec, never planned a Christmas party, deployed to Qatar when it was Base X (Camp Andy), paid my dues with 1500 hours as a true copilot (not dual seat Mission Pilot from Altus)...
Lots of tanker dudes have hundreds and even a thousand or more of combat time since 2001. Even more embarrassing, some of us have "V" devices for our time spent in the combat zone. I have two and I didn't put in for it. They were awarded to me and showed up on my rack in MPF. Ridiculous, yes. Personally I think it is a slap to the face for our troops on the ground in combat arms. Worse, I know a crew who transited an area of friendly fire (unbeknownst to them) and they put in medals for being shot at despite me and the DO showing the CC exactly on the map where they were, and the ATO about the friendly fire exercises. They wrongly transited a restricted area and AWACs let them do it and thus they were surprised by the tracers flying past them. STILL, they were awarded medals. Don't get me started on this crap .. my blood pressure is high enough as it is and there's so much BS about this type of stuff it isn't funny.
Lots of numbers, numbers, and more numbers.
I think many see it in the correct light though for all of the details.
For this I have hope.
I just can't see ever mentioning any Bombing E's, ACM E's or Top Hook awards I might have (or have NOT
) been awarded in the TRAINING COMMAND on a forum such as APC, much lerss mentioning such on a forum of military aviators (like AW). I think I'd be virtually smothered by the crap storm that would rain down on my head!

I didn't see the one post which I agree is over the top. I mentioned two of my devices pointing to the hypocrisy of these types and the awards system these days -- essentially saying the same thing you are. Do people really put that stuff on a resume?
