not a fascination. when you spend 180+ days a year in the sandbox, online may be your only option for a master's degree. all that matters is that it is VA approved/accredited

The one issue I had, I was enrolled online. Tried to do a course for a MA in International Relations. Coursework involved a lot of research on Pakistan and the Taliban. Guess what was not viewable on either the government computers or the Pakistani Internet service at Bagram? You guessed it, I couldn't view any of the videos we were supposed to watch, they were all blocked!

Aaaaaargggh!!! Had to drop that course.

It is completely a function of the jacked-up AF policy that officers need to get Masters degrees. Thus, most go the easiest route and go Phoenix or Embry Riddle or Tuoro. Me? I got a real one but many don't.

It is simply a matter of whether you are wasting the government's money or your money. If you choose the government's money to waste, then you loose also. That was an entitlement that you earned, hopefully in combat at some point, which they AF is now making the choice for you on how to use it. If you choose your money, then you have basically bought in to paying for rank.

BLAB (BL at the bottom where it belongs) - it is a waste of money and your time and serves to facilitate degree for money online institutions that are raping the DoD while laughing all the way to the bank. It provides no tangible benefit whatsoever to the warfighter, but makes the AF look better in the shower when they print the academic numbers to non-relevant peer groups so we can appear to be as schooled as people we shouldn't even be compared to, let alone even care about.

I am a Distinguished Graduate out of UPT, volunteered to FAIP regardless of the fact that I was number 1 in my class and could have chosen anything else, I have flown and worked my ass off since I've been in the Air Force, have received all Q1's with zero downgrades and over a dozen commendables on all my checkrides, but according to the latest Major board results I have a 21% chance of making Major because I do not have a Masters degree in basket weaving from Phoenix University.
The Air Force has completely lost it's mind.

I never bought McPeak's Delta Airlines service dress. Waited it out to the deadline and it was gone within a year.
