It is a shame that AZFTC went downhill. Sounded like a good deal. Anyone know of a good place in the MSP area? I have done some research but it looks pretty slim in the Midwest for the ATP Practical.
|
I hear the Navy bubbas at China Lake still use the AZFTC for the ATP practical.
Is the consensus that if you are ATP written complete before the 31 July rule change, you are good wrt those additional requirements (ie don't have to do them)? |
Did FTI in Denver, we were their first ATP only class. Use United 737-300 sim. ~$4700 (total--including check). It was a cut down type course, but after us they already started making changes that will make a pretty good course better. One day of academics, 3 sims (4 hours each) and check.
- I needed to knock it out, and couldn't really take time off from work. They worked round my schedule - If you're smart, the type + ATP isn't that much more, makes a lot more sense financially, I just didn't have the time right now. - Check ride was legit, but they had us completely ready. - I went with FTI because I trusted them and because they could work with my schedule (locally). That said, pretty happy with the experience. Instruction was uniformly excellent and I feel like 16 hours in a 737 sim is of more use to me as a pilot than a few seminole sorties. Just my opinion. Also, if like me you're hoping for United, that's the same sim they run interview check's in, so that was nice. |

Has anyone else done the FTI ATP course? Is this a suitible course for a KC-135 guy who is looking to get ATP practical and check complete? I am soon retiring and moving to Denver and am mulling the 800 ALLATPS Flightschool at Centenial versus other programs. This sounds great if it comes with a type as well. Thanks for any information.

Does anyone have any info about the ATP program at Cobra Kai Flight Academy in Wichita Falls (good, bad, etc)?

^ Also interested.

Cobra Kai? Awesome.
The name, not the flight school. |

Most of the instructors are current or former international ENJPPT IPs at Sheppard AFB. So they obviously they speak military and like working with Air Force guys. It is not a "pay the fee and get the ticket" program - they won't send you to check until you are ready... and additional hours, of course, drive the cost up. But the check pilot was awesome - Serious, but still big picture. I would definitely recommend them! |
