I looked at them and visited their facility but ended up not using them. They don't seem as familiar with the ATP process but instead are more focused on the lower certifications. Also, I'm assuming you're a mil guy since this is the military subforum, so I'll say they're not on par with all the other "military friendly" locations others have talked about. If you do end up wanting to go with them and live anywhere east of Raleigh they have a satellite office at Johnston County airport in Smithfield. You'll probably spend a less $ burning time on the ground since it's not such a big airport.

I do know a few guys who went to ATP Flight School at RDU, but most of the mil guys I know went down south to the more popular schools (Sanders, Higher Power, Accessible Aviation).

This school is not too far from RDU, and they specialize in doing ATP's for military folk.

Search for mil2atp in Goldsboro, NC. They have a very nice Seneca II.

Another bump for Sanders Aviation in Jasper, AL...finished the course the week before Christmas. They were booking out through the end of March and April when I was there in mid-December. Highly recommend...they're a solid outfit and run a legitimate course...costs ~$3500 and worth every penny.

Finished at Cobra Kai. They said they are just about booked through July, but do sometimes get cancellations. If you can get a slot, do it.

If you are in the Boston area, East Coast Aero Club is a decent place. Two Seminoles so chances are at least one is out of maintenance, DPE on staff, instructors used to military coming in for their ATP. Between all training and checkride and examiner fee it was about $2500. Might be more if you aren't very familiar with GA.

Possibly a dumb question, but I'm approaching mins for the R-ATP and I have my written complete. I assume I can still sign up at one of the locations mentioned and take my ride for the R-ATP??

If you have your R-ATP mins and the test done, you're good to go for the practical.

Thanks for the quick reply. Time to start looking at booking.

Just checking to see if anyone has gone through Downtown Aviation in Memphis lately?

I went through Dowtown in November; flew the Dutchess. They also have a Twin Commanche that some guys were flying. It looked like whatever you end up doing, they'll send the appropriate gouge early. One practice flight, then check the next day. Sometimes people need/want an extra practice flight, which may change the timing/price. I did ground instruction and one practice flight on Wednesday, then checked and passed on Thursday. $1363 paid to Downtown, $400 paid to the DPE. Cheap and fast, and it didn't have the feel of a certificate-mill. Highly recommended.
