Default Sim time for IFR

Quick question for you guys. I tried calling the FSDO but the agent was out of the office and sometimes I have issues finding them.

I just had a phonecall from someone at the airforce base. I believe he's a Lt. Col. He flew C-130's for years and now is sim instructor for T-6's when he's not doing other duties. He bought a Bonanza and has it hangered here at the airport. He wants to be legal to fly IFR. He hadn't shot any approaches in an actual plane for some time. however in the T-6 sim he shoots them almost daily teaching AF guys how to do it. He went up with a friend who's rated and did 4 approaches in his Bonanza last weekend.

First question: Does the T-6 simulator count as approaches flown for currency reasons?

Second: If the T-6 does not count then the 4 approaches he shot with a friend under the hood the other day do not count either correct? He's past his 6 month currency and 6 month with an appropriate rated pilot so he would have to do all approaches with me correct?

I'm mostly just wondering if the military T-6 sim counts. Don't you guys get your Commercial and IFR equivalency ratings using them as part of the training process as well?
