I declined company medical--here is why, and the bad thing about it--Tricare is the insurance of last resort--If you have any other insurance--they expect it to pay first...I do have the company Dental and Vision Family plans--so that is nice--However with the change in the Tricare Prime Service area--I am on the hook for more-which sucks..When I can afford it, I will consider going back on the company plan--I think it is probably a bit more full service--but MUCH more spensive..1st year pay not conducive..So positives and negatives for both...

I'm going to run for Congress, "serve" one term, never be present for votes, never introduce any bills, accept "donations" from lobbyists, and retire.
And get the Congressional Health Plan, free, for life.
(And I think, a pension, too).

I personally pay for TRS and the cheapest company healthcare, along with company life, vision, dental and disability.

I have been on Tricare Prime by going on deployments to keep benefits, but that has run dry. This month is the first month I have ever paid for healthcare (Tricare Reserve Select), but it is cheaper and better than my new civilian healthcare offering.

Check that. Sen Cruz and McCain want all retirees off of Tricare First off prime and pay for standard only if you can't get coverage through private means. It will be obamacare for all soon enough.
