taz1518, check out the TERA thread...bottom line:

DONT APPLY, YOU WON"T GET APPROVED NO MATTER HOW "ELIGIBLE" YOU ARE IAW THE GUIDANCE!

4.5 prior, 14.5 as a pilot...thought I'd get out while the hiring is good.

SlickF16, I recently passed 20 years and don't fit into the VSP or TERA. Need to submit a Memo for Record when applying for voluntary retirement enabling release from the pilot bonus. States that you need to make a case why its in the best interest of the Air Force to waive the ADSC...let me see:

1. Will not take $50K+ in future bonus payments.
2. Will save Air Force 2.5% a year x 2 in retirement payout.
3. Will most likely will be without an airplane to fly in the near future.
4. According to the matrix, in a pilot AFSC with an overage.
5. Will save the Air Force money on retraining and PCS.

...makes sense to me but am sure I'll be digging up the "how to get hired being non-current" threads in 2016!

If you are retirement eligible, ADSC is waiverable. Of course you will have to get wing cc approval and approval through AFPC. It may require you to pay back unused portions of the bonus as well.

Thanks Pitchback! Fellow Airman are getting disapproved for TERA with an ADSC for the bonus. Several Squadron mates whom have North of 3-4,000 hrs. are not getting called. Combo of that gave me jitters enough to cancel my request with AFPC and roll the dice in hopes for a follow on flying assignment after we divest.

Also know guys whom are trying to retract their retirement due to no calls. If a non-fly job is not in the cards for the last 2 years then I will do what I fiscally can to stay current. Back-up plan is Railroads!! Trains are cool.

fear not, you'll be hired soon. Hiring is still in trickle mode because training departments aren't prepared for big hiring yet, they don't have the check airman staffing and/or the simulators, plus regional flow thrus are taking up half of classes at AA and Delta. Watch what happens this summer (peak travel) when airlines are short on crews and go into panic mode, they'll finally put hiring into full swing when the order comes from senior management. Reactionary, but necessary, because the airlines have been purposely holding back hiring projections to keep wall street expectations at bay. Case in point, the Delta "unofficial" position is that theyre hiring 600 this year. Officially, theyre hiring 300. So, 300 is what theyre telling wall street to prevent overblown earnings estimates (pilot hiring equates to a perception of higher EPS).
