So they'll do a great job like the current flight planners right? Or as good of a job. I'm not worried.

This would take a long time and a lot of money to implement. And this would be the epitome of ivory tower academic thinking colliding with the real operational world.

Spending the money would require some very long-term thinking...I suspect the services would rather just sustain current ops for the time being. Something like this might well be built into future aircraft but I seriously doubt that any retrofits will be in the works, and least until we're all retired.

If this surprises anyone, you've been living under a rock. They're talking about DARPA, and by DARPA standards, this is one of their least imaginative projects.
