Therefore aviation is becoming more of a working hobby and less of a real job. I you are on a Life quest then by all means have at it. Perhaps you could become a street mime for retirement?

But there is a reason why I chose to fly. I love it. I'd rather fly 20hrs a week instead of work 40hrs a week.

So back to how this relates to loans, I would say go for the flight training if its something you truly enjoy. Here's what I recommend.
Work your butt off for about 6 months. Save every penny you can. Then start flight training. Keep a full time job (try for hours like 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm). That way you can either do flight training in the morning or afternoon. 9 to 5 is tough, especially in the winter. You will have maybe $25k a year coming in from your job, and you will probably spend $35k on flight training. Not bad. Add the money you saved from the 6 months, and now you only have to take out a small loan.
Avoid debt at all cost. Do not get a 100k loan!! Do not go to an aviation academy!!

I enjoy XBox. Is there anyone hiring for that? The idealism of youth can be poison. If you can't buy a house with 40K in SFO what makes you think you can earn a living as a pilot there?

Yep. Microsoft is hiring. There are over 30 different studios that makes games for the Xbox. There are over 100 that makes accessories for the XBOX. Not to mention all the full time gamers that work at the Xbox and game related websites. There are 2 fulltime tv channels that report on games and the gamers culture. There are now more than 5 seperate degrees you can get that teach you how to become a video game developer.
And I haven't even scratched the surface.

Most people consider a house an asset because the trend over the last 60 years has been that a house will go up in value. This may or may not always be the case and a lot of people lose a lot of money buying and selling their house. Yea in the end they might get a nice check they can put in the bank but after reflecting on the amount of money for sweat equity, maintance, loan interest, closing costs, real estate agent fees, and other misc. costs most people have a negative value on their house. And buying a house is a neccessary evil for most people vs. renting. Personally if I could do it all over I would still live with my parents. Sigh.
I say all this after I have bought and sold 2 houses in the last 5 years with some of that time over lapping. My primary house I had 5 years, just sold, and made $15k in but in the end lost $6k on paper. Then there was my other house which was an "investment" I had it for 1.5 years. And lost $17k in cash and $23k on paper.

PS3 will definately be neat. $600-$700 for a game system is a big much for me for the base unit.
It all depends on how hardcore you are. Because then you will want to buy more controllers, games, network adapter, & wireless internet. To take advantage of it you will need a HD tv & a Dolby Stereo system.
I have owned 2 xboxes and bought and sold over 8 PS2 and never played any of them more than 30 hours total. What a waste for me.
