NetJets Phone Interview and Information
NetJets is so concerned about the number of new pilots leaving that they asked the union to approve higher pay and a 2 year training contract for new hires. Union said we're not helping you out of a problem you're responsible for.
Only reason attrition isn't worse is 70% of our pilots are 54 and older. That's a statistic one of our pilots came up with, I have not verified it but it looks about right. We have 12-13 year F/O's who still can't hold Captain, so lack of turbine PIC time hurts them for leaving. But many airlines are starting to relax the turbine PIC requirement.
We still get new hires because there are lots and lots of places out there that are so bad they make NetJets look like the city with streets paved in gold.
As for your original question, I'd suggest checking aviationinterviews.com and see if they have that info. If they don't let me know and I'll see if I can contact the union member on the NetJets Hiring Committee to find out.

8-10 FOs are upgrading a month right now average.
The Phenom just had a bid for 18 PICs last month.
The logger-jam for upgrade is loosening every month. The 12-13 year FO will become a diminishing breed... fortunately.
This is not a comfortable duration to wait for upgrade but it’s also very common in aviation over a period of economic cycles.

People are leaving all over the industry for other positions.
Your own airline is admittedly losing people to larger carriers. Notice I said lager, not better became who am I to judge for another what is better? THEY are the applicants and they will go where they want for whatever reason. Fortune and glory, base, schedule, whatever.
Something for everyone.
This is nothing new. If you’d have been through more than a singular hiring cycle, you’d know that.

The 135 duty and rest re write is not even law yet, let alone YEARS from becoming a reality. The legislation that includes the formation of an ARC passed the house, currently stalled in the Senate. IF it gets approved, and the focus is shifting due to political lanscape, midterms, the ARC has to be created, then changes proposed, etc, etc. It is the federal government, nothing moves quickly. It will be at least 2 years to see the changes, and it could very well be a dud like 117.
Relief from the feds is not coming anytime soon.

Also stop pretending like you’re some salty industry vet, you’re like 5 years older and you couldn’t be more ignorant to the industry.

It was almost 50% attrition to those hired post furlough. Not sure how much the needle moved with the contract though.

Well, retirements for age 65 started again with a fevered pitch following the delay caused by the retirement age changing. In 2013 there wasn’t much hiring but by 2015, most carriers had no choice but to hire pilots.
They are in hire, hire throttle mode now and will do so for the next 9.5 years.

Not sure why you are pretending NetJets doesn’t have an attrition problem, they absolutely do. Maybe not in sheer numbers but nobody wants to address the issue of why people are leaving.

I think I hold my own pretty well.
Lol.
Let’s talk in a few years after the next downturn and see how your views mature.
