For as much time as we spend there, this can be an important factor! I think the coffee machine is most important.

It's not major wages or retirement, but that doesn't stop many from being quite happy and financially stable.

Absolutely true. They happily gave up the farm to keep free benefits. Could have squeezed a lot more out of Uncle Warren and AJ back in the day but they took the foot off the accelerator. It’s one of the reasons IMO it’s no longer a career destination. You can live alright and pretty comfortably at NJA but you work 20-40 percent harder than a comparable job at a major.

I don’t know how anyone can look at 40+ years of 12 hour duty days for 7 or 8 days and be like “yea, I can’t wait to do that” and to do it for less pay than the airlines. But to live in Missing Teeth North Dakota and get to be based at the airport that one -200 serves a day, I guess you gotta sacrifice a lot in other areas.

I'm already to the point where all flying is just a "job", but a better job than sitting in an office cubicle, glad I have my Air Force Pension and don't have to live in a crew room or crash pad but I won't miss any of it in the end!

United family coverage contribution is like $690 a month out of your check, NJA pays that here.

Roughly $425 here at Brown for extremely high end coverage. Best I’ve ever had in 25 years of flying. I thought the medical at NJA was excellent as well.

Incorrect. I just asked my friend and he pays 390 for family. Stepping over airline salaries to pick up 4,680 a year. The logic just isn’t there.

Free medical or not. There is NO way anyone can spreadsheet out compensation with NJA vs any major and see that objectively NJA would be ahead. It’s impossible. Most Majors in a 20 year career are up over 2M or more. Those are objective quantifiable numbers, no debate. Compensation defined as Salary, Bonus, Retirement contributions minus benefits.

If you like living in Morgantown WV and don’t mind knowing you are leaving miney on the table. Then good for you. You have subjectively decided NJA is a better fit.

United has like 15 different medical plans. From 600 to 50 a month. Southwest offers a free plan. Delta has a ton of plans with costs from 50 a month to 400. Majors have better LOL and disability insurance than NJA offers.

So man up and call fatigued and take of your needs. If you're too afraid to use the tools you have, it's your own fault.
