I'm sure you would be paying to get yourself to and from your base though.

NJA and NJE are owned by the same company, bit they are run separately. Customers can fairly seamlessly go from one to the other. NJA does a limited amount of inter Europe flights, but it is mostly ferries to get set up for the next customer leg back to the US or you are flying the same passengers around in Europe that you initially took over from the US. There are a lot of cabotage rules to follow so NJE ends up doing most of the inter Europe flights. Europe to the middle east and Africa will be almost exclusively NJE unless you count fuel stops on flights departing the US going to Africa or the middle east.

Yes NJ US does fly to Europe a lot and intra-Europe, and all over the world (pre COVID). However, as a New Hire, you won’t have the seniority to hold any of the large cabin airframes for at least 5 years (as of now). As a new hire, You can plan to be in the Phenom, Latitude, Sovereign, or Excel. (All based on the needs of the company). You’ll be flying to any of the islands, Mexico, North America, Central America and even possibly, South America.

I thought NetJets was getting rid of the XLS? Has that process slowed down?

Yes. Most likely getting rid of none this year and probably only very gradually over the next 4 years+ years. Unless the economy fails and rich people stop wanting to ride. Then the company will trade them in very quickly.

They got rid of the XL’s. They’re keeping the XLS’s a little longer.

I find this amazing. Those things are old now. And look dated. A bit ugly, really. And the XLS cabin pales compared to that of the Latitude.

Think of it like the DC9 at Northwest/Delta, they are paid for. As long as they are reliable they stay. They need the lift.

it's my understanding that the XLS is mainly being sold through the card program rather than fractional ownership, and reliability has improved significantly since the introduction of the service hubs.

That is correct. Also, the ADS-B upgrade was significantly more expensive for the XLS hence why they only did 3 XL and all the XLS. When Covid hit, they got rid of the last 3 XL. As long as the Reliability is within an acceptable range for what management expects, we will have them. If they start break down more, they will be disposed of. The Service Hubs have seemed to help in keeping their Reliability up.

When they offer multiple airframes like that how are they awarded in class? Is it seniority based on age or do they just randomly assign?
