As a follow-up, if you’re still in the “time-building” phase, which to me is almost everyone younger than me, instrument time should be the easiest to log. The FAA’s definition is:
“A person may log instrument time only for that flight time when the person operates the aircraft solely by reference to instruments under actual or simulated instrument flight conditions.“
Unlike night time which has strict starting/ending points, instrument time is essentially up to the pilot to determine “instrument conditions” and “ solely by reference to instruments”. I recently had a friend who had been flying a Challenger for more than 1500 hours say he still had less than 150 hours of instrument time. Really? C’mon man!!! How about time at night in between layers, or no moonlight over the desert? What about cruising at FL450 with an indeterminate undercast? I don’t need the time, but if I did, I guarantee you that I would be relying on my instruments in those cases…

….it’s not too late. Surely you can dig into your memory to recall some actual in there?
As a general rule a pilots actual will equal around 10% of their total time.
