What does a new hire's average total time/background look like?

Has it changed considerably since the beginning of this year?

Couldn't say really, the class I was in ran from a 22 year old 1500 hour CFI to a 60+ year old corporate guy with thousands of hours and A LOT of type ratings. Class was over 40 people and had about 10 ex military, rest were charter, airline guys and the rest were CFI only. I have no idea on total hours, but there were three or four that had zero jet time. I think they're looking for personality fit, so if you have the minimum required hours they require you have a shot.

15 Longitude

That sure is a lot dropping out of class, things must be bad to have that many dropping out.

Still confused by the verb "drop/dropping" as it relates to this thread?

A new type is going to be rough if you can't learn something new.

Since definitions are tough, I'll explain.

Type = aircraft type rating
Rough = difficult
Something new = adapt

“Drops” refers to aircraft assignment, not drop-outs. If you were being sarcastic, I apologize.

How is the CL-350 initial training?

depends on your background, somone with a prior type rating experience and a few hundred hours of jet time. No problem, they do what they need to get you through. Its a realatively straight forward docile flying jet. A 1500 hour cfi with nothing but 172 time is gonna be rough. The training is not designed the way the regionals are who do it by the thousands. Not impossibly by any means though. If one is a 1500 hour wonder Bust your ass dont go out partying every night and you will most likely be fine.

So, if you wanted something bigger like the CL650, CL350 or the Longitude and you got the Phenis, how long before you can likely bid out of it to something more comfortable up front? 3 years?
