He could have waited for an XLS bid and most likely would have got it well short of another 39 month seatlock. He should have waited and chose that. Hereaped what he sowed.

Your point makes complete sense, that if this person stayed in the XLS, and upgraded in fleet, they would have burned up the rest of the lock they had…. But, the company isn’t offering XLS PIC bids anymore. It’s only backfilled with people who fit out of the Phenom and a small handful of the G450 guys that got displaced back in 2021

That's under the new contract.

When he was hired, he fit out of the Phenom and was placed in the XLS. When the first available PIC bid reached his seniority number and was awarded to him, it was in a Phenom and he had just over a year left on his new hire lock. Since he already fit out of the Phenom, his PIC seat was in an XLS. BUT, they tacked on a full 39 month seat lock to his remaining lock since the upgrade was "technically" in the Phenom. Voila. More than four years. And although that may have changed for NEW upgrades under the amended agreement, his lock would have still stood. So, because the company LOVES screwing its pilots, another great guy and pilot left.

As others have said, this is not new to the 2024AA. The 2020AA was the same. Mainly, just not a lot of upgrades for people assigned their first fleet until 2021 hires started upgrading. Many people not on their FIRST lock and either furlough recalls or hired post 2015 that went large cabin and quickly presented with upgrade options. But, this is not their FIRST fleet assigned at Indoc….

Anyone know what fleets are being awarded lately? I’m heading there for the September 9th class. Thanks everyone!

The displacement was in late July of 2022 and all but two went to the Phenom. They fit out of the Phenom and went to the XLS instead.

Why not use real man talk instead of psy talk, its aircraft assignment. Drops sounds like something those special rainbow flavor people say

Found the angry boomer.

The Air Force has been calling their aircraft assignments “drops” for decades.

The way FO bids are going, it won't take much longer until new hires can get the Global 6000 too, if the last bid stands. Not too many people left who want to bid it even with seat locks released due to the new language where they can't upgrade for 2 years if they take an open FO bid.
