I notice a lot of people tearing on the starting pay ($19/hr), BUT, the most JR. cap't on the BE1900 is 7 months ago (Nov. 2011) Then, from that point you make $33/hr. Thus! After only 6 or 7 months you're kick'n your buddies butts that didn't wash out at that regional jet carrier. LoL! Seems an okay deal. If only it weren't on a BE-1900's :(. But, as many have said, that wont last long. And, the Saab is a transport category aircraft. 30+ seats. You can parlay that for a good seat at a better op. from a life-career perspective.
me! me! me!!! it's my PIC!!!!!! I'll pay you for it! |

The commuter industry was never designed for you to make money at it. It's a place for you to gain seasoning and "pay your dues". If commuter pilots started to make any "real" money then the system would fail. If the major has to pay Mesa, PSA, Silver or any other commuter decent wages for pilots, dispatchers, rampers etc., then where would they be saving they money? You can say "well then the jobs would go back to the majors" but that is just not reality. Just do your time, deliver pizza on the side to make ends meet and quit your *****in. The average commuter pilot has it 100 times better than a commuter pilot did 12-15 years ago. BTW the reality of things is that a Silver pilot will probably find him/herself in the right seat of a major airline jet faster than just about any other commuter except the flow-through commuters.

That has to be one of the crustiest gray hair style posts I've ever seen on here. If history has taught us anything its humans always do everything right so quit your *****ing and carry on. [sarcasm] there's little to no dignity left in this career and "paying your dues" repeatedly for a decade if not more to make a livable wage removes whatever is left of it.

Is 2000 hrs PIC in the Saab 340 (Transport Category) something a major would look at? Or, would this only qualify one as a very appetizing applicant at a jet regional where you can start all over again? What are the possibilities?
Sucks that they lock you in on the B1900 for a year. :( |
Any current 3M employees know about classes in August? I couldn't do the early July dates due to obligations to my present employer. Also, anyone know what the FAs are starting at? I have a friend who's looking.
