You might not be on serve at all but you might end up in GLH AOO SHD depending on how your seniority falls in class, the staffing bid pretty much restructured everything. I think MIA had some slots but probably not for long.

I'm new to this thread and I had a few questions in regards to Silver Airways for current Silver Airways employees and the senior pilots.
I start class this Tuesday the 24 for an FO position in the Saab340. I was wondering how long should i expect to be on reserve for? I've also heard things that major U.S airlines and international airlines such as Emirates and Qatar don't look Turbo-Prop time the same way as Jet time...is this true?

I can't say about reserve on Saab but I have been on reserve for 2 months now, i'm in beech in the northeast. I don't think major airlines in the US care too much about jet time vs prop time as long as you have Turbine PIC. Now I've heard that Jetblue had something with the MTOW of the aircraft plus they don't like prop guys, but other airlines hire prop guys. Now considering Emirates and Qatar, u won't get hired as of right now at Emirates with prop time, they want Jet time with MTOW of greater than 30 tonnes (30,000kgs or 66,200lbs). Whereas, with Qatar you can get hired as a Second Officer with 1000 hrs turbo prop time in aircraft with MTOW of 12,000kgs or about 27,000lbs and Saab meets that requirement. I've also heard some captain from the Beech was hired as a second officer at Qatar sometime ago. You should go to the job fairs when they attend and talk to them maybe they will give you a better idea of what they are looking for. Enjoy training and welcome aboard!

Yes and MIA wont be opening until November the earliest. Possibly not until January.

This pertains to all the regionals... But are we going to see multi time requirements decrease as the ATP deadline gets closer? Will they be merely searching for people with 1500 hours at that point?

Short answer.

Yes, it is true, sometimes.

The good new is that after you get that coveted 1000pic after a couple of years, you can jump ship to an RJ for another year and get that JET time.

Since there's no multi time requirement I'd venture a guess and say yes....

You won't sit reserve on the Saab as an FO. There are currently 20 plus FO hard lines not covered in the new staffing bid. They push you through training quickly (6 days a week) and get you on the line were you should start flying immediately.

About the flight times...

PIC SF340 Type with TPIC (coming in as an FO at 3M now you will get upgrade / type quick in comparison to other regionals currently hiring) is more valuable than a CL-65 SIC type (useless) and SIC RJ / ERJ time (join all 10,000 of us who have this). Just my opinion; who knows what the future requirements in this Buisness will be.

Can someone please PM me the AOL address to send a resume to? I have searched on the website and can't seem to find it.
