I thought the UA thing started this month. The iPads released right now are for a testing phase. Hopefully soon everyone will get one

Received an email stating United has postponed the pay for travel until they complete an internal audit. Probably a lot of backlash from every carrier and they may rethink it.

The iPads are for ground use only right now. It has the flight ops manual, aircraft manual, MEL manual, and runway analysis on it right now. It has an EFB app but it requires a special login, yet to be received.

I'm sure everyone affected is well aware of all this, but just in case:
Public law 111-216 is written that no matter what, all 121 crewmembers need to have an ATP certification even if the FAA fails to meet the final rule deadline. The proposed rule, that has not been finalized, states that sic needs a type rating in aircraft to be flown and 1000hrs sic time in 121 operation before becoming a 121 pic. It also has all the reduced flight times for aviation universities and military guys. Since the proposed rule is still just that, the company could send sics anywhere to get an ATP. I'm thinking that since the final rule isn't projected to be finished till Aug 1st, that is the only reason they might be entertaining this option. I would hope that we could all just go get our ATP in the plane we normally fly, but to check the box for the FAA we might be SOL. It is all speculation till we are scheduled for the training anyways. Good luck to all time builders to meet the deadline!
:)

Has Silver not even started the ATP process with FOs yet?

Yes I have a couple contingency plans that I hope work out in the event that this happens.

Your judgment continues to show discrepancies, you have a handful of busted rides and currently near an upgrade and you would quit because your airline is looking to met the ATP requirements by outsourcing the training and checking to a company that would met complete the requirements for a fraction of the cost of doing it on a SAAB 340 or a Beech 1900.

Now, I agree that they shouldn't be outsourcing it to something like this but it does met the intent of the rule... ATP, and Type rating (SIC was obtained during initial). The airline business is about minimizing cost, the regional industry is about doing it the absolute cheapest. It suck!!!

Id say it's cheaper to do it in the Sim then a Seminole as far as the leaving from an upgrade I've had some major life changes that would facilitate a move to another airline.
