Id say it's cheaper to do it in the Sim then a Seminole as far as the leaving from an upgrade I've had some major life changes that would facilitate a move to another airline.
Using all ATPs is a dumb idea to just check a box, if we need to be typed in the aircraft I'm assuming it means full type not SIC? Wouldn't it be in their best interest just to send us back through the sim?

Not all airlines are issuing PIC types.

The proposed rule, that has not been finalized, states that sic needs a type rating in aircraft to be flown and 1000hrs sic time in 121 operation before becoming a 121 pic.
:)

I heard this time could be 121 or 135. Could someone with 1000 PIC hours of 135 time upgrade in a couple months or start as a DEC? Do they need to obtain 1000 hours 121 SIC first? Places like GoJet or TSA where upgrades are 3-6 months would fit into this category.

Those places operate under the current law, also if you are upgrading at TSA or GoJet in a fast time means you have the company mins (goJet is something like 4.5K) and you likely are coming from another carrier. Most CFI don't have the company mins to upgrade if their seniority allowed them to.

You didn't answer my question. I'm aware of various company upgrade requirements. I'm also aware that all 121 carriers operate under current laws. And the New ATP law along with everything relating to it(such as requirements for captains) does not come into law until August.

So let me get this straight... Silver hasn't started the process of getting the FO's ATPs yet? Are they on crack?

What I am telling you is that the DEC and short upgrades as such are not likely anytime soon. Also there is no guidance set yet just proposals so we shall see what the final item is.

When are they looking at getting the process started then?

Since no one else answered you, no they haven't. Some fo's that had the ATP mins and did initial or transition training this last year did the ATP at the same time. I don't know if they're on crack or what. They only any out a email asking for people's times a couple weeks ago. Don't know the numbers but possibly there were a lot of fo's that are right down to the wire on getting the needed time?
