[qoute]"In an effort to deal with upcoming rest and duty time regulations Silver Airways has announced that they will employ 'flight deck qualified flight attendants.' After one year of service Silver Airways will send all flight attendants to All ATPs to attain their pilot ratings. They will then return as qualified crew for both the flight attendant and first officer positions. Crew scheduling will be able to cross utilize these individuals. After a training contract of undisclosed length is completed the flight deck qualified flight attendants will be able to apply for full time pilot slots."[/qoute]

Hear this: There is no big announcement. There are no new codeshare agreements. Change will happen when it happens and the Company will make an announcement sans announcing that an announcement is coming. The rest of this year will be focused on stability and making the current operation efficient and effective. The 27th Saab will arrive on property in the November-December time range, according to PL. iPads will arrive when they arrive and even when they do, there will be a transition process where we will carry both the iPad and paper manuals/charts.
Settle in people, what you see is what you get. The work rules here are strong compared to other regionals, and the Company knows it. Possible pay increases and other pilot retention incentives will be addressed in a meeting between Company and Union officials in the third week of August. Hope for the best and plan for status quo.
That's all I got. Now back to your regularly scheduled speculation and wild guesses.

Is your union discussing with the pilot group on what should be discussed? Is your union seeking your input on possible options? Or maybe they know best?

However, our work rules in comparison to ALL other regional carriers would be in the bottom 50%. I am not going to explain the in's and out's of every regional contract, but I do have a fairly good understanding of most JCBA's floating around. With that being said, I will BS and rumor mill with anyone, makes for great after work conversation. But please, as I have preached and hoped other people in this business would do, make sure you read and understand before you make absolutes. The staffing bid alone at this company was a joke in regards to the lack of understanding on the pilot groups part. Our work rules are not horrible nor "bottom of the barrel". However, our JCBA is not strong in comparison to the rest of our industry. Thinking this only provides management with what they want, ammo!
Strive for better and NEVER accept less!
