I interviewed as a captain. Now you guys are saying that there are FOs in training now being trained as captains. Why did the CP tell me that there are plenty of FOs qualified to upgrade so Itll likely be within the year for new hires to be upgraded?

Because all of the senior/qualified FOs are probably based in Florida and don't want to go back up north if they upgrade. So, they are training qualified new hires in the left seat, however they need to fly 100 in the right seat before they can go PIC (at least thats the way I interpreted the ops manual).

Don't hold your breath. If that's true, it'd be a first (been at 4 airlines). Your company will consider that wasting money to have already trained captain, then bump him just to train you.

Hey folks, keep all that good info coming! I just sent my resume in via the aol email, hoping to hear something soon. Did any/all of you fill out the online application linked on their site? I did, but wasn't sure if it was necessary.

I did, but got an error message each time I submitted. I just kept emailing the AOL email every 10 or so hours (like twice). I got a call to set up an interview about a week after that.

Our 2nd Saab came in late Friday night. The first one will be on the line middle of February. We are also moving all of our maintenance to Gainesville.

Sadly I am good freinds with several CA/FO/CA/FO guys. I know of one Captain was signed off Captains IOE only to be put back to FO the VERY NEXT DAY. Now through the union contract he was able to be paid as a Captain for the rest of the month, but was eventually put back to FO. I am guessing that the 4 other airilnes you have been at did not have the unique circumstances that Silver has with low time pilots.

With all the expansion going on, do you guys see it as a legit concern to get bumped. And if not wouldn't one be on perpetual reserve?

Thanks Coryk, online application worked for me, as in I did not get an error of any kind. I was thinking of giving them a call later in the week to make sure my stuff went through...

Friend of mine talked with the recruiter and he was told he wasn't sure when the next round of hiring would be.
