Just ask the questions here.

Firstly as a Saab FO you'll get IAD or ATL first then you could bid for fl pretty easily after a couple months.

Aren't there FLL slots now? I think FL is the only remotely well staffed region silver has now. I think ATL and IAD are pretty fair game now a days. I heard a rumor the 1900 is being phased out this year?

How is the crash pad situation for in iad and atl? Plenty available that dont require a car? How much are they running per month?

Don't know about ATL but for IAD Altitude Pads | Commuter Housing for Aviation Crew 3 different packages $150-350 depending on how many days per month. Most are in hotels like the Hyatt with 24 hr shuttle, free breakfast and right near restaurants and grocery stores.

Getting hired and through training

In all honesty, what does somebody who has been out of actual instrument flying for a long time (but who is a rated CFI/I, MEI, and ATP) need to be able to do to get hired, and make it through training (maneuvers, prep, etc.)? Also, is it possible to work a second job at the same time?

Umm you have an ATP you can apply to any regional why would you want silver?

Looking for punishment.... At this point in the game 3M has stability issues, it could be any day, hopefully I'm wrong for those still there. I enjoyed the flying, the B1900 and Slaab are being missed, but for me the writing was on the wall.

I hear if Silver loses 10 more pilots, they will have to cease operations. Is this true?

RgrMurdock 01-25-2014 04:15 PM

I'm not sure if that's true or not. But if this "shortage" does materialize it will most likely be great lakes, silver, and commutair that fail first probably in that order.

They may have to cease ops in CLE, IAD and ATL, retreating to Florida only. But system-wise, the wheels keep turning. We haven't quite gotten down to Great Lakes levels of desperation...yet.
