I'll new to 121 work. What I've read and learned up to this point is commuting sucks. I live in base so... isn't living in base the thing to do

Pay isn't as great as other places I agree. The have a "flow" with Frontier which again for me would be in base (MCO).

I'm open to suggestions.

PSA. I was considering silver too being a Mco commuter but do yourself a favor and fly 2 years at PSA and then try and get on at Froniter if you want to be in base. Mco to Clt commute is easy despite what everyone might tell you and you can hold Clt out of training. PM me if you have any questions but I'd wage it as a smarter move.

I thought the 145s were just a rumor and it was dismissed.

Jets, that's all we know. Jets are coming. It's been hinted that they'll be CRJs and our new DO is a CRJ guy. Other than that, no clue.

And yes, all day trips out of Florida. That has its pros and cons.
Pros: You come home every day. Since all of the pairings are just 1 day trips, it offers a lot more flexibility to change your schedule around.

Cons: No per diem, our per diem starts at 9hrs. Impossible to commute to. Well, not impossible but they've made it extremely difficult as no one wants to spend 15 - 20 nights a month in a crash pad.

As a matter of fact, there will be a small exodus of IAD pilots that are jumping ship come January. Most are commuters and a few live in base. I'll be among one of those.
