If you get ewr, you will lose a lot of qol as a commuter, sacrificing full days off on both sides of reserve blocks and trips trying to get to work. Trust me, been there done that, not a fan. That said, ewr does have a lot of daily flights from CLT...then again, so does iad.
I agree, Dulles is more of a freak show operation rather than it being bad per se... Plenty of commuting options.

Commuting into DCA is also an option if you're IAD based... BWI too, if you're really on a bind.

Why are you going to commute? If you're concerned about QOL, as you say, move to the largest, most junior hub airport and setup camp there. If you then want to commute, figure a driving commute to the base. You'll never miss your car home.

I would like CLE because of QOL, but they said in the interview that it is senior and more likely I will get EWR or IAD. Anyone know how long it would take to hold CLE?

I am also considering commuting from CLT if I do get IAD or EWR, how difficult of a commute would that be. Sorry for all the questions, this is my first 121 job so I am still learning with all this commuting stuff.

My original plan was not to commute, but crunching the numbers, unless I get CLE, until upgrade will be tight. I have a place to stay for free about 30-45 minutes from CLT, and am thinking it may be the best way to go financially.

Free is good, just don't forget the costs associated with commuting. It adds up.

You'll get CLE the next like 15 out of 20 upgrades are coming from CLE.

CQF starts again in July I believe in line with the CBA.

Upgrade class going through in July. No other upgrade classes have been announced after the July class.

There's no July upgrade. Next one is tentatively in early August. There is a late June class going thru that you might be thinking of.
