Do surf air pilots have a typical schedule? Is it still 5 on, 5 off?

No, what you do is send in your requests to the crew planner every month, ie. you want PM shifts, or full day trips, saturdays off, etc. And she builds you a schedule based on your requests. They are pretty good about accommodating most requests, but to answer your question, no it is no longer 5/5. Fo's have more time off than captains, but everyone is working hard right now until we get properly staffed. It's difficult to stay ahead of the manning curve with 1 new airplane every month, but soon it should be remedied.

Thanks AEav8r. Is holding CRQ pretty senior? Do you bid a base and stay there for a bit or do you get moved around based on companies needs? Would be a dream to work for Surf Air one day with a ten minute commute to work at Palomar.

You are welcome! CRQ is very senior for Captains, for FOs I believe one person got it out of training. You would be initially based where the need is until vacancies are made.

Thats incorrect. They are CASS, several carriers offer travel to any carrier with cass with no agreement required. So they meet those carriers requirements. Most cargo carriers are this way and several smaller regional type carriers.
