Any details? More hiring? Pulling current US SA pilots to move or will they be hiring people to go be based out of Europe? Also saw in another article a Citation and a Learjet with SA livery. It looked photo shopped but are there any rumors about that? (Surf Air Subscription Flights Europe Expansion) |

There have been a few hired under 800 and I think they should drop the requirements down to 4 or 5 hundred, but that's just me. Obviously it's going to be hard to have previous 121/135 experience at that amount of hours so it's going to come down to being sharp, & having good stick and rudder skills. That being said, the most important thing is personality & a willingness to learn to do things the way the company wants. Previous glass experience will definitely go a long way because our avionics system is ridiculous.
It's a great place to work regardless of if you come in as a street captain or a first officer. Of course there are flaws, but can you name a company that doesn't have any? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As of now, no details (hiring, bases, etc) with regards to the EU ops have been released to the U.S. pilot group. It's assumed the aircraft will have EU registration which requires an EASA certificate and the pilot groups will be separate.

Any word if Surf Air plans to do East Coast flights?

There has been intent to expand in Texas, Florida and Northeast (simple Google search), but I'm not one to officially comment on the status. Hopefully we can grow outside of CA in the next year. (apart from the Europe Ops)

Anywho... Surf air is cutting major routes, ....frequency is being refocused. 1 major/popular route is getting the axe. halving bases. 1 base will see displacements to another base. Not to be confused with furloughs/layoffs. Pilots are very disgruntled. That's subjective and depends on who you ask. You've been warned. We're still interviewing and hiring. Our SoCal base has seen an unusual amount of attrition in the last 5 to 6 weeks. And the majority of that attrition occurred BEFORE the recent events. I can think of MANY sh!ttier places to work. My worst day here is still 100x better than most. The initial shock of recent announcements is over and life goes on. Our pilots are doing what they need to do to keep this a safe and fun place to work. Some have chosen to move on. Cruising up and down the coast of Cali still beats many gigs. Surf is a great place to come with 600-1000 hours and gain crew, turbine and glass time before moving onto the traditional airlines if that is your end goal. |
