As an 8 yr part timer I grossed $47,000 in 2015

None of those numbers look appealing...Especially if you're living in the NE.

As a result, Cape Air will do its best to weed out the people that have no intention of upgrading.

Unfortunately many of the FOs I know that left had no intention of building flight time and bailing right away. However, conditions were such that made them rethink their decision. I wouldn't be quick to say a person just "bailed" because in some cases there was a lot more that went on than wanting to get to ATP mins and leave immediately. Of course you will always have those pilots who use it to build time and leave...

Yes Cape Air needs FO's when an autopilot is deferred or a high mins captain is flying with pax IFR. Cape air needs about 10 FO's system wide to cover those two circumstances. The company just hired about 60 first officers.

Doesn't that beg the question, why are they running 50 FOs fat? Why not just hire people directly as a captain?

We're not competitive enough to attract ATP qualified pilots.

They only way Cape Air can sustain it's flying is through hiring FOs and time building. Thus they are required. They can't attract street captains because the regional/major airline gig is too good right now.

This place is going down in flames after that 30k contract. Threats never do better than incentives.

Oh and guys I made 125,000 my first year as a regional FO. See how easy that is to just make up numbers? Has 9K really come to captains bragging about their not-so-good salary on APC? My god.

Does cape air still offer part time positions?

Exactly. I wonder why. You need FOs, but crap on them every chance you get. It's no wonder why people get their time and bail. Flying a clapped out 402 in the NE versus a modern jet aircraft is kind of a no brainer. Make the package more attractive overall, and focus on employee retention through means other than coercion, and you might create and foster an environment that lends itself to keeping long term employees.

The company offers day off bonuses. Up to $500 plus overtime. I make $45 per duty hour on OT plus the bonus on top. That's a $900 to $1000 per day. I do this once per week. I'm not making this up. Others that work here can confirm.

There's no doubt that you can make a decent living flying the 402 as a captain. The incentive program is great.

Hit the nail on the head. I can you all the horror stories. Freezing in the winter, sweating to death in the summer. Living in every little ****hole town you can think of. Also can't get to any legacy with 402 time at all. Airline is on it's way out. This thread just proves it. 30k retainer. What a joke.
