In reality it quickly became go to work, fly back and forth, spend the night at an outstation. Then wake up, fly all day, and spend another night in the outstation. Then wake up and if you're lucky fly a half day and go home- or fly all damn day and spend another night in the outstation. Then maybe fly half a day and go home. Drop off dry cleaning, pick up dry cleaning, sleep, repeat.

As a low seniority guy at ATL, you might expect to get sent to PIT and BOS when the need arises. (And MSS is no fun this time of year....)

But you're flying a great plane and building hours. Pt 91 was worse...

I know of a 600TT CFI/CFII/MEI that just got hired. So your 650 with CFII should be pretty close.

FLYGUYRY 04-06-2019 02:53 PM

Just got hired myself. Based out of Denver, April 30 class date. Anyone else in the same boat? Super excited

CFI, CFII 600 TT incase anyone is wondering

Do they still have crew crash houses and crew cars or are they using hotels now?

If you had reserve for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and you were LAX based... if the phone rang at 7am, you could bank on getting an LAX originating trip for the day, or an overnight originating out of LAX. If you were deadheaded out to cover another base, its only because they ran out of reserves there and had a sufficient number in your home base and could afford to lose you.

with boutique, and i am not complaining here so dont get me wrong, just pointing out the differences... you can just about count on flying out of every base but your own. not so much for FOs, but definitely for PICs

When they ship you out to fly another base, you're paid regular rates for flying out then flying the trips, right?

SteveBunch 04-06-2019 07:54 PM

Does your shop need 1500 hour pilots with 200+ jet/turbine and 700+ multi?

Just to compare, PIC at my PC12 shop is $600 or $800, depending if it's high or low season.

Crew houses and cars. No hotels unless you get stuck out of base due to maintenance issues.

Correct. The only real difference is that they would have to put you up in a hotel when your not at the outstation. You also receive $30 per diem per day not counting the day you leave.

Good info, thanks. I've applied to build the hours on a regular basis. And I want to fly the PC12. It sounds like my kind of job.

No. 135 minimums for PICs. No multi required.

Phone interview with Boutique tomorrow, March

So my phone interview is scheduled for tomorrow. I've read this whole thread and there aren't any deal killers. I'm willing to pay my dues to fly a good plane. I am working my way through the 100 page Boutique thread now. I also downloaded the PC12 POH recommended in this thread.

What gouges, study materials, other info do you recommend I study?

Out of curiosity, do you have a CFI?

It has lapsed. Haven't instructed in a good while.

Joebob21 04-08-2019 08:54 PM

If it’s the first interview it’s just HR type stuff. Pretty straight forward, have some questions for them, they’ll tell you all about the company. Second interview is a technical interview regarding IFR procedures, FAR’s and technical questions about an aircraft you’ve flown recently.

Biggest deal killer will be poor IFR knowledge. You'll be emailed an approach plate to use during the tech interview. Know your symbology, how to brief and such. Know your speed limits around B space. It's this stuff that both CA and FO candidates get tripped up on. You'll also be asked about systems on some previous aircraft you've flown. If you have 135 experience, you'll be asked about those rules of the road. In spite of their need for both FOs and CAs, it's not a gimme and people do fail.

SteveBunch 04-09-2019 11:42 AM

Sanguy, thank you. I will make sure i'm up to date on those.

Materials received in training?

Are these materials and the POH issued to us in ground school?

What other materials will we receive?

Can anyone recommend a good/accurate PC-12 version for the Microsoft FS-X flight simulator?

You'll get all the materials needed to get through ground school when you get going in class. Get the computer based training done BEFORE class starts. There is a POH available online that you can reference through class. In fact, virtually all study materials are online so you can reference them any time. They will be available through the employee website. MaxMar's references are good ones. Unless you have someone with legacy PC12 experience to work with you on FS-X, skip it.

I have to schedule my technical interview once i know my work schedule over the next week. What can I expect? I know basic IFR will be part of it. I've never flown part 135 or 121.

Joebob21 04-11-2019 08:20 PM

They gave me the ILS KIDA approach to review(prior to phone call). Know basic VFR cloud clearance and speed restrictions in various airspace. IFR max holding speeds. Thunderstorm avoidance distance. Know systems of an aircraft you’ve flown recently as they’ll ask some technical questions regarding this. Know 91.175, and other various IFR regulations. Part 135 reg. Knowledge isn’t necessarily a requirement.

Hiring PIC?

I’m 17 with 728 hours, I hit all the Part 135 PIC mins including over 150 hours Instrument except total time. I will have 1200 hours when I turn 18, in September, will get commercial on my bday. Happily will sign contract as can’t go to airlines till 21. Are they still hiring street captains? Will I have a good chance of making it on? Thanks.

It shouldn’t be a problem. Turnover is high.

Helicopter turned fixed wing

Hello everyone,
Very interested in this company and becoming an FO. I have 975TT and my CFI/II in helicopters. Out of the 975 TT, 156TT are in fixed wing. I have my commercial license in ASEL/AMEL, and my instrument. Would having lower fixed wing time be a problem? Thanks for the help!

Joebob21 04-17-2019 04:04 PM

They need captains, get to 1200 and get instrument current if you aren’t. Met all other part 135 mins. Good chance you’ll get a call.

Anyone know what the odds of getting based in DEN right away are?

Denver is fairly easy to get, there are a lot of routes out of there.

scubadiver 10-07-2019 06:49 PM

New to the thread. I have read through a fair amount of this and another one but was wondering what a typical schedule looks like for a respective domicile.

I have been thinking about Boutique for a while and have already done the HR interview and am waiting for the technical. I am not in a position that I can relocate to one of the bases (looking for ATL or PIT, I guess) so commuting would be my preferred choice. I realize my life will probably not be very comfy by doing this but how bad?

Scheduling will not go out of their way to accommodate your decision to commute. Their are many different types of trips depending on the base. Some have day trips(ends you back in base) some have pm shifts or constant duty overnights(stay in outstation crew house). Depending on how few or how many back to back days your working would dictate how commuter friendly that particular trip would be. ATL and PIT only have one route which is a PM overnight shift, but things change constantly, especially with what Boutique does(Essential air service). Would you be ok with having your base completely closed and having to go to any other base Boutique has? Keep in mind you’ll be signing a contract and potentially on the hook for 10-14K dollars. We have CASS and KCM benefits which would ease the pain of commuting but if you need to buy hotels even a few times a month that would add up quickly. If you’re coming in as an FO the income/expense ratio would be high, and likely not worth it. If you’re coming on as a captain it could be financially doable in my opinion. All of this said, BTQ has been a great company for me, but then again I live in base.

kevinboy1114 10-08-2019 08:36 AM

I got an email from Boutique asking for my availability for an interview which I am guessing is a phone interview. I gave them a week long availability. How soon should I expect a response from them with a interview date?

I would say anytime between now and a week from now

In all seriousness, they are fairly responsive. The interviewers are likely also line pilots, so depending on their schedule they will get back to you when they can.

kevinboy1114 10-09-2019 09:07 AM

I got the email for my availability last Wednesday Oct 2 so its been a week now.

kevinboy1114 10-09-2019 09:10 AM

And it would be for a captain/PIC slot in the PC12
