Default Phenom 100 or 300

If a pilot about to reach 135 mins instructing full time had his eyes set on flying a phenom 100 or 300 part 91 or 135 etc., what would be a good place to start looking?

What do you mean by "good place to start"? Where to get the ME time you need? Where to get turbine time? Where there are Phenom operators?

Quest operates Phenom 100s and other aircraft under Part 91. I fly a P100 and it's junk. Breaks a lot, has terrible avionics (for a turbine) and the interior was made by Fisher Price.

Most pilots (young and old) seem to have an airplane they dream of flying. Search for a job that you will enjoy and that is good for your career, bank account, and life. Not one that has the airplane you want to fly.

Safety, pay, schedule quality are the most important things in life. Especially once you have a family.

You're dream airplane will change. I used to want to fly a jet, now I want to fly a tail dragger low and slow over New England sightseeing with my wife.

The Phenom 100 is a good first jet to learn. It's very simple. Like FNF said above, it breaks a lot...you'll learn to pack a bag for everything involving the plane.

Look at Fractional Aircraft Ownership | Executive AirShare. They operate a lot of Phenoms and are frequently looking for pilots. There is a current thread in the Fractional forum.

JetSuite also operates a fleet of Phenoms, and I hear it's a good company to work for.

I mostly disagree with FlyingNasaForm's take on the Phenom. I flew the 100 over 800 hours last year (yes, really) and I think it's a great little plane. They had some bugs at first, but once those were taken care of in the first few months our 100's rarely had any problems. I love the avionics, it makes situational awareness a breeze and just like everything else in the plane it's very user friendly. I've flown all sorts of Lears and Beechjets (new and old) so I'm not just saying this because it's the only jet I've ever touched. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The part about the interior being made by Fisher Price is pretty much spot on.

Also, all of this is true.

By the way, Purdue has a Phenom 100, so if you got an instructor job there, maybe you could work your way into theirs somehow.

I believe the way into Purdue's Phenom is to be a student in the pro pilot program (whatever name it has these days).
