It’s not terrible we had it at expressjet. 4 hours of hot reserve with 4 hours of full pay. If you lived in base you were released after your 4 hours. Then to the bar!

Some company’s do like 8 hours of hot reserve 4 hour is of pay. That’s not ok

Hot reserve, only if it's hour for hour pay which the company will never go for. It's a win-win!

Exactly. Anything can work if the contract language is strong and not full of loopholes.

I would intentionally bid ready reserve at my last airline. If you live in base it’s honestly one of the best kept secrets depending on the language.

They already have hot reserve. It's called "Active Reserve" and has been there for years. 25.F.3.

I'm very familiar with the PDT contract. Why don't you tell us all about active rsv and why and when it's used?

It looks like it can be used at any airport as long as the company and union agree first on a suitable reserve room/lounge in said airport. I'll do it for triple preems...as I do all reserve stints these numbered days 😁

The thing is though, we have a provision in the cockpit for "active reserve" in the contract already, 25.3. I would think that they would use it if they thought they could by now. Our reserve system is already broken and the problem is, nobody really sits reserve (for now), so I'm hoping we don't give an inch away as a concession. For all of us intending to upgrade or for the new hires who will be coming in after the airline staffing issues are fixed, reserve rules need to become more pilot friendly if anything.

1. Tell customer “look at this shiny item”
2. Of course you can have it customer (meeting 1)

3. Find a reason to take it away after interest is obtained. (Meeting 2) leaving customer more interested in item

4. Get something you want in exchange for original shiny item. (Enter PBS)

5. Profit

Did u think they would roll over and spit money at us? Trophies for everybody!

What I don’t understand is during negotiations how is it that all the open time is still getting sucked dry by captains. If you want fast negotiations you have to stop helping them. They want to take your days off your money your QOL? And you are helping them cover flights? You should be ashamed. How can we negotiate raises and more days off when people go down to 8-7-6 days off for a little cheddar?

Just say no. To preems for a month or two and we can get this done
Unfortunately, making a concerted effort to not pick up open time is illegal I think, something to do with the railroad labor act. However, if individuals want to take that stance on their own, it's not illegal.
