Thought about coming over as "direct entry" but too many people from piedmont are predicting perpetual reserve due to abundance of ready upgrades. So basically just gonna keep being displaced...

That's just a byproduct of being a DEC. Roughly half of the seniority list are going to be FOs, and they're all going to be senior to you and every time one of them upgrades that's just another guy ahead of you on the CA list.

Default Bypass Pay

Purely hypothetical question. If Piedmont were to fulfill its CA staffing needs through the DEC program and halts upgrades for like a year (again...purely hypothetical) do all the FOs who wish to upgrade who are ahead of the DECs on the seniority list get bypass pay?

I’m sure they have some fantastic way via our own contract and their own interpretation of it to avoid paying bypass.

Eh, that may not be as big of an issue as you think... most folks in training now are 18-24 months away from being a captain. If Piedmont wasn’t planning on doubling the # of Jets and pilot group long term it could be a concern.

Folks talk about reserve like staffing isn’t going to be an issue anytime soon... as long as the long term plan is to double (or more) the # of Jets and the size of the pilot group with attrition around 10-15%/ year the top of the seniority list, Piedmont possibly won’t have adequate staffing and therefore reserve coverage, for a while.
