Default CLT-PHL commute/Open Time/Trng in CLT

Couple questions for those of you slugging it out at PDT currently, if you’re good enough time help:

1). How is the commute from CLT to PHL and vice-versa? (Smooth enough given the AA & PDT hubs in both cities? Or does Hunger Games reign given AA & PDT pilot bases both places?)

2). While PHL-based, can you pick up open time out of CLT?

3). Is all training (except for ATP/CTP?) for PDT flight crews done in CLT?

1..... depends on the season and day... but a weather event, friday, summer... cab be tough... you can do a pdt commute going through phf, roa, cho etc and get priority for the jump... that being said we're often weight restricted.

2... . No.. maybe.. yes... depends how desperate they are.. there is nothing in the contract that restricts or approves it... back in the day they used to let us sit ready at phl or clt before they were hubs.

3.. we are using Atlanta and pheonix for sims..

Out of domicile flying is covered in the contract. They’re only supposed to approve it within 36hrs of the trip report time. 25.5.N

I think we’re done with Phoenix unless they’ve renewed the lease.

I was thinking 25.F.4 which is reserve.. and mutual agreement..

25.G.5.N ... ive challenged it before and they extended a local person instead.. at the time I was told 25.G.5.A didn't apply... ohwell.... whatever... they wound up calling me an hour later to limo me to MDT.

Indoc and ground school is done in CLT. Initial Sims are done mostly in ATL and sim check rides are in CLT.

It's not an easy one, there are a lot of mainline folks doing the same commute. Jumpseats are often taken.

Only within (I believe) 3 days of the trip starting. Outside of that, no, you can not pick up open time from another base (or trade into it). This is in the contract.

Ground school is CLT. Sims for initial/upgrade are mostly PHX and ATL (although we might be losing PHX). Recurrent is CLT.

All that being said, Piedmont should be on almost nobody's list of airlines to go to. Working here is like a chef working at McDonalds. You could get paid way more, treated way better, and actually enjoy the life that a professional should get to enjoy, by working elsewhere.
