It's the quality of life at Piedmont. 11 days off a month for 75 hours pay. So you'll gross 3750 a month for your first 2 years at Piedmont. That's 45 k a year to work your a@@ off.
Many are bitter because the operation is run so poorly and than you talk to your friend at shiny jet co. And they made 2x more than you and are getting 15 to 18 days off a month.
Our extension and jr man rules are the bottom of the industry.
Unfortunately the devils are in the details of our contract.

The hourly pay rate means nothing if you get paid for less hours having less days off then someone at a different airline with a lower hourly rate but who gets paid for more hours and has more days off.
You will actually make more money and get paid more at other regionals because you will credit more hours / month and on top of that you will work less (get more days off) / month. Perspective job seekers need to realize this.
In order to make up for the crap schedules, PDT pilots' hourly rate would actually need to be much higher than what it currently is. At PDT your hourly rate is actually too low and you are underpaid for the amount of work (low credit flying but 5 leg days) you do and the amount of time you are away from home (11 days off / month) compared to what is industry standard these days. As usual, PDT is behind the curve and keeps kicking the can down the road.

We’ve been on here warning people about the negatives of PDT for years. Yet, there’s some that won’t listen. Time to flip the script.
Yeah bud, everything you listed is factual. Piedmont is great. Especially if you like to “fly” a lot (i.e. be away from home.) Also, low reserve time, because there’s an abundance of 11 day off lines. It’s easy to budget when you know you’ll always have 75 hours credit. This is as good as a former turbo prop operator can do, so be happy about it. See you on the line!

I have no skin in the game but here is my outsider $.02. When you post a general question about "which regional should I go with" 98% of the responses you get are to choose the one you can live near. Some things mean more than pay to people. A friend of mine recently got hired at Piedmont, didn't apply anywhere else because he didn't want to go anywhere else. I also have two friends that worked at Piedmont that were happy with their time there and are now at American (hired outside of flow). Main reasons why, basically no reserve and CLT base where they lived. Truth is we are pretty spoiled to even have a choice, in the not too distant past pilots would jump on the first one that gave them a call and were thrilled just to fly all while making 22k a year. It's a good time to be a pilot when even the "worst" regional pays over double what you would have made less than 10 years ago.
Decide what matters to you and make the choice.

orrrrrr, you could 3 leg it to a PDX base for SkyWest and still be home more often and make more money.
