The CRJs are also out of production.
Yes, no longer being produced. However, there are many in storage waiting for a new home at a great price.

Who owns them? Can you point to proof? What age?

My understanding is there are not many new/gently used planes in storage.

I talked to a buddy last night who is on property and recently went thru captain upgrade. I asked him about this issues. His reply was that there more than enough parked 145s out in the desert from American Eagle. But before Piedmont can ask American to get them out of storage, they have to hire so many pilots per month (I didn't write down the number) but they just can't do that. So from what his class was told by the CEO, its a bodies problem right now, now necessarily a hulls problem. Second hand info, FWIW....

Most of them are getting long in the tooth. 20-25 years old are the most common. If memory serves, Envoy sent to Piedmont their newest, when Piedmont converted from turboprop to the E-145s.

lol no. Opposite. Piedmont got like envoys oldest 145s some of them had to be parked only after a couple years.

Nope. The 145 doesn't have any real "short field" benefit. Buses can get into any airport we fly (if the majors wanted them there).

Better become the E175 or Piedmont is toast within the next 5 years.

Ahhh yes the Boyd Group. A very reliable source for regional airline information.

Our VP isn't doing anything to bring anyone in either. He still hasn't signed the pay scale extension. That's the talk of the crew rooms currently. Everyone is cursing his name. It would seem he is trying to ruin the company. Doesn't matter to me anymore, I'm bouncing for UA in a couple weeks.

American Airlines has signed a firm order with Embraer for four new E175s. The aircraft will be operated by American’s wholly owned subsidiary, Envoy Air. With all deliveries in Q4 2024, Envoy’s all E-Jet fleet will grow to over 150 aircraft by the end of 2024. The contract value is US$230.6 million at list price, and will be included in Embraer’s 2023 Q3 backlog. “These new jets will allow us to continue growing with American Airlines. We’re pleased to announce these additional four aircraft, following the order announced in June, as the US domestic and regional markets recover from a very challenging few years. The E175 allows us to provide an excellent and reliable service to American Airlines and the thousands of guests we serve everyday”, said Pedro Fábregas, President & CEO of Envoy.

“This new order demonstrates once more the importance of the E175 to connectivity across the United States, and is another sign that the challenges the market has been facing are improving,” said Martyn Holmes, CCO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “The E175 is the backbone of the US regional network, with over 620 aircraft sold, and 86% market share since 2013. We thank American Airlines and Envoy for their long partnership with Embraer.”
