Such airline historical reading would reveal that pilot groups who vote for a strike rarely actually go on strike...

I never implied that a strike was a certainty. But they should know what a strike can be like if it happens. If they want to play russian roulette with their career, that's fine. I'm not saying it's wrong to go to Piedmont, just a terrible idea.

I'm interviewing in a couple weeks... so (assuming I was hired) I wouldn't be looking at a class until 2013?

Plan on taking a big huge bite of a sh!t samich if you go to PDT. People are great, but people can only take so much before that hole breaks your soul.

This is a very true statement. The difference here is a dying airline that the owners are looking to put of its misery. They let the pilots walk, blame shutting down the company on them.

Fine with me! If they close us down during a strike they would be doing us all a favor... Because if they do it, it was going to happen anyhow the sooner they close the doors the better, it will finally give me the kick in the rear to get out of this place.

I think this pilot group would greatly benefit by actually going on strike, it would show a great deal of unity that most don't think we are capable of.... I have yet to fly with someone who said they will not vote YES for a strike.

I jumpseated on Piedmont a bunch of times back 2002-03. I remember one pilot saying something like "management wants to turn the Dash 8 into the next DC3" ...

how did he know?
