Default Piedmont Airlines Accepting Resumes

Piedmont Airlines
First Officer
Piedmont Airlines, a US Airways Express carrier, is currently accepting resumes to begin
interviewing and hiring in 2011. Our airline has a fleet of 44 deHaviland Dash-8 100 and 300
aircraft operating over 350 flights a day to 55 destinations. Crew bases include LaGuardia,
Harrisburg, Salisbury, Charlottesville, Roanoke, and New Bern. Our starting rate of pay is one of
the highest in the regional airline industry. We also include a comprehensive benefits package.
Additionally, Piedmont Airlines has preferential hiring protocols in place with US Airways.
Minimum qualifications for consideration are 1500 hours total time and 200 hours of
multi-engine time, and have a commercial multi-engine rating.
Preference will be given
to college graduates with aviation degrees and those applicants currently employed in a
multi-engine pilot position. All others with qualifying times will compete for interview vacancies
when they become available.
Interested individuals should submit their resume to Bob Trout by
e-mail to:

Piedmont Airlines is “An EEO Employer M/F/V/H”.

I agree very EPIC. I think more and more airlines are going to start preferring applicants with Aviation degrees. I am not a pilot myself but I have been asking for advice on the best way of making FO in the regionals. I can't count the number of times people have told me NOT to get an Aviation degree.
Thank God I dont listen - I start school in Jan majoring in Aviation
I may or may not major in something else after getting a bachelor's in Aviation Science.

Cruz I have argued with many about Aviation Degrees and all I can say now is I told them so.
Yes Piedmont is one airline taking Aviation Degree preference, but im willing to bank on the fact that more and more Regionals are going to be doing the same. My personal opinion on why this is being done is that the FAA has really been cracking down on regional airlines and their ops. I mean look at their qualifications- 1500hrs TT, 200 Multi, Aviation Degree preference, and those employed in a multi engine position have preference. Those requirements show me that regionals are looking at their new hire's liability. With all the regional accidents in the past 5-10 years caused as pilot error i dont blame them at all.

Don't forget about the 73 that was broken into three pieces or the two MD80 wingtips dragging the ground

I can't sit here and tell you that the Aviation dean at ERAU or UND dont make a nice salary. All I am arguing is that aspiring airline pilots need to be cautious of the field they are getting into.
What gives a entry level lawyer his or her value? Is it the fact he or she passed a bar exam?
Airlines are starting to look at it the same way. My opinion
How do we distinguish a knowledgeable pilot from a mediocre one?
obviously the pilot who studied aviation and has taken a core study with classes in meteorology and navigation has the advantage.
The pilot who studied business or history and completed his FAA certs on the side is not going to be preferred over the Aviation major.
There is only so much about flying covered in those little FBO hangers.

I am lucky, I start school in Jan for an Aviation degree. I have the new GI Bill paying everything- tuition, flight fees, and a monthly allowance to pay rent and most of the bills. This new GI Bill will cover my Aviation Degree and FAA Certs and on top of that my state is giving me 4 more years of college paid. The best advice i can give for anyone trying find money to pay for tuition and flight fees is join the military. I did almost 5 years in the army and deployed to iraq for a year.
