Hope you can give some advice. I just had an FAA medival(class1) and the examiner said it would have to go to the FAA for review. How long does this take? Do the letters/test results really go from Australia to the US via snail mail? The problem is I have a start date in the US in November.

There are medical consultants in the US who can probably give you a better idea, and perhaps help you expedite the process.

It usually takes 3-4 months for an initial SI depending on how complicated the case is. Non-insulin diabetes should be fairly straightforward but the FAA takes its own time. Especially towards the end of the year, the delays around the holiday season will add to it.
