Anyone ever loose a medical. Have any info?

Lot's of variables here, depending on the situation.

If the condition can be corrected, you'll get your medical back when you're better.

With a few exceptions, If the condition can be improved with treatment, or at least prevented from getting any worse you can probabaly get a special issuance 1st or 2nd. class.

If it's only going to get worse over time, you probably won't get a 1C or 2C.

Having some issues with that right now FNFAL...PM me if you need any help with it. It's a crappy topic to even talk about...let alone go through. Rick is right though, it does depend on the situation...and most of the time, you can get your medical back, even if you have restrictions. That's better than nothing right? I'll still try to help. I may lose mine altogether, but I don't care to discuss that kind of stuff out here.

Thanks Jenn hope things work out ok with you. It looks like i am fine, and my medical is OK. But I will need some medical leave maybe a tinge of FMLA. also Rick thanks for the link and info. If medical does become an issue aviationmedicine.com will be a good resource.

Yeah health is becoming my priority. Im still fairly young but the combo of no sleep, long hours, and not having time to eat is starting to screw my system up. If I do have to take time off work or if I do loose a medical it doesn't really matter to me anymore, Im just sick of living in burnout year after year to keep flying.

FNFAL - Check out books on internal organ cleansing and homeopathic medicine. Also, the book "Nutritional Healing" is good. If you feel your body has been taxed to the max, your probably right about your health. Your immune system and internal organs will need a boost and to be cleansed, respectively. It don't know exactly what line of work you are in but engage in some physical activity that will make you sweat or go sit in a sauna for a while. Sweating will help your body cleanse itself by eliminating accumulated toxins that may be hampering your immunes systems' ability to work efficiently. Eat plenty of vegetables, drink clean water, herbal teas, fruit and avoid fast food at all costs (please!). Try some Kombucha as well. It is absolutely disgusting but it cures any ailments I have overnight, literally, and it makes me feel a whole lot better. That's just my 1.5 cents.

see your problem isn't really your health, but the DOCTOR that your going to. I am not kidding when i say this, but I go to a particular doctor who does pretty much nothing but medicals..You walk in and the entire waiting room is full of SWA pilots, its hilarious. After my "thorough" examination I received my first class with no problem

This wouldn't be Dr. Brad in Roanoke, TX would it? That guy has mastered the assembly line medical. Can't beat a $35 first class, though!

Couple years in to my flight training, I had full kidney failure. To make a very long story short after my transplant I was faced with get a medical back. It took appx 8 months of a stable health with plenty of postive letters from doctors. I started off with a 2nd class special auth. and then moved up to a 1st. My only limitation is that my medical is not valid for ANY CLASS after one year from the date of the medical. Moral of the story, buck up and keep working hard on the FAA.
