AME class 3 okinawa japan
good afternoon gentlmen i am a military member located in okinawa japan i started my procces to get my pilots liscne howeevr i need a class 3 medical exam does anyone have any information as to where there is a AME in okinwa japan.

Per the FAA web page there are only 4 AMEs in Japan. Two up around Tokyo including the one JB referenced, one in Kawasaki and one in Kagoshima. The FAA has a search function, if you search for FAA AME it should come up. Select AME and even though you are just looking for a third class select first, second and third class medicals. Doesn't look like anyone just does second and third classes in Japan.

I did a 1st class with EKG prior to returning to the USA with Dr Kikuchi in Tokyo/HND. Great guy. Located in the JAL domestic terminal. Yeah not OKA but easy rt flight on a LCC Peachi or Skymark. With the Jpy/USD exchange still pretty cheap. Best of luck. Normally a Flight Surgeon on base can issue up to a 2nd class medical. Course it has been a long time since I left active duty, so things probably have changed.

Looking up the reg (61.23) it seems the military pilot medical does apply in some cases.
11) When a military pilot of the U.S. Armed Forces can show evidence of an up-to-date medical examination authorizing pilot flight status issued by the U.S. Armed Forces and—
(i) The flight does not require higher than a third-class medical certificate; and
(ii) The flight conducted is a domestic flight operation within U.S. airspace; or
(12) When exercising the privileges of a student pilot certificate or higher while acting as pilot in command on a special medical flight test authorized under part 67 of this chapter.
Don't know if the OP is a military pilot transitioning out or just looking to get into aviation.

The original poster's langauge "military member" and reference to a "pilot license" suggests that (s)he is not a pilot, in the military, or otherwise. He or she may be, but in that case should be familiar with medical options on base, or should have already inquired about medical options on base.
