medical question

You all are smoking something. Are you kidding me, this guy is in high school and smoked weed and you're telling him to stand on the sideline for 2 yrs because someone might drop a weed bomb on him There is no justification from FAA to come afer him nor have the time and money to pursue a bogus charges as such. I can pick up the phone and rat everyone above me on the seniority list and you think for a min FAA will go after any of them and waist all that federal money just because you can pick up the phone and try to make someones life miserable ahhhhhhh don't think so. Have a good friend at the FAA in ok city and says your advice to this kid is total bs. How you gonna prove he ever smoke? just because someone said so?? Think about it. It takes a lot more than a phone call to convict someone. You need proof and the only way to prove this kid has lied is a drug test and thats all, drug test and nothing else. Don't do it for 90 days and stay clean and you're fine.

If they find out the kid lied on the form they might very well pursue it by referring it to the justice department. Probably not worth taking the chance, even if it's a small chance. Getting busted for a federal felony would be life-changing, not just aviation-changing.
I am not uptight about the fact that he smoked, but if he wants to be a professional in a safety-sensitive career he needs to put it behind him. I think the easiest way to do that is wait two years before applying for a medical.
But telling the kid to start his career by lying on that form is bad jus jus, I think you are screwed up for suggesting it.

The FAA has been throwing pilots in jail for lying on their medical form RECENTLY, that's not just some hypothetical.

I think you simply screwed up for mixing reality and lies. Why don't you stop by police station and let them know you drove over speed limit yeaterday or tell your wife you looked at another women wth admiration and call the faa next time you over speed below 10000. Look all im saying is faa has bigger fish to fry than going on witch hunt after some kid that smoke weed in high school. Get real i know this career is turning out to be a joke but realisticaly we're not there yet. By the way you still didn't answer me as to what evidence you have to prove he did weed. Don't tell hearsay because i used to drink and smoke plenty when i was under age and broke every law in your book and if you read his post little more closer you see he's still a minor with no criminal or misdemeanor record so unless you're in watching too many Tom Cruise movie ie minority report then he is innocent. My advice to him is to clean up, stay clean and walk a straight line if he wants a career in aviation and if he was my kid i would steer him clear from this junk and send him to a medical school or even talk him into be a male stripper. That's better money and lot more fun. :-)
Anyways, would anyone really even suggest attempting to become a pilot? If someone sees this, check out my last post before it at the end of page 1 I have a lot of questions regarding aviation as a career in general.

I've been in this career for 30 yrs and i can tell you firmly don't waist your time. It's not what it used to be 20 yrs ago and if you have some brain cells left take it to the business law or be a doctor. This career died on 9/11 2001 forever and with all the great treatment you can expect from ceo's to tsa's i tell dude to stay clear this s..t. Too expensive and there are no gaurantees and even if you succeed just like what i said before it's not what it used to be.
