I am a nurse and certified diabetes educator. I am a part-time freelance writer for a diabetes website. We have been doing features on different careers with diabetes.

The article I am currently working on is being a pilot with diabetes. I'm aware the FAA will not let you fly, except for privately or gliders, etc. What I am looking for here is pilots with diabetes who are willing to be interviewed by email or phone.

Also, previous pilots who have been grounded due to new diagnosis. Any pilot with information on this subject who does not mind sharing would be great. We want to have the very best article on this subject, as researching it can be confusing. I would maintain anonymity if that is a problem for anyone. Conversely, I would include specific information where the subject is fine with it.

This person is most likely legit. But on the off chance that there is a working professional pilot with diabetes out there who is thinking about responding, better think twice. We at APC certainly cannot guarantee your anonymity, and if this happens to be some sort of federal fishing expedition then your anonymous APC account probably isn't anywhere near as anonymous as you might think.

FAA has in the past gone looking for pilots with undisclosed medical problems, using creative methods, as opposed to merely enforcing the rules when they learn of violations.

Or we could be dealing with an investigative journalist who's planning an "expose" piece on medically unfit airline pilots.

I'm certainly no advocate of pilots who fly unfit, but if they're out there they should probably not participate in surveys.
