Nonrev bumped off of flight after boarded
I haven't heard of this happening before but it happened to my mother today when she tried to nonrev home.
The gate agent gave her a ticket and she was physically in the seat on the plane. The flight had been delayed, it was already after push time.
She sees the gate agent come down the aisle and asks the woman behind he if she is a nonrev. The woman didn't know what that was. My Mom told her "I'm a nonrev." The gate agent informed her she had to get off the plane, a revenue passenger showed up and needed the seat.
She got off without hesitation as she knows she is representing me when she travels nonrev.
All I could say was "Sorry that happened, I didn't realize you could lose your seat once you got on"
I fully understand that when we nonrev we are prioritized below all revenue pax, but it seemed a little odd for her to be removed from the flight after it was already boarded.
Does anyone know the actual ruling on this? I always assumed that once they print you a ticket you're good to go.

"Usually" if they shut the door, you are good. But I have been ordered to return to gate after push to replace nonrevs with late-connecting premium pax.

Here's a hypothetical: You're a D2 and checked in online for a flight before another D2. The other D2 is given the last seat because you are running late and haven't checked in at the gate yet. You finally show before door closes. Will that D2 be removed from the airplane for you since you checked in online before them? (Also lets just say it's a 145 that needs an alternate and they can't take a jumpseater )
