ALPA Improvements
Envoy is getting 12 days off/month now and we are waiting on PBS.. why?
Sick time accrual should be 4 hours / month to cover min day like it used to cover the 3.5 min day.
AA handed us these pay raises and we should thank ALPA? No, they need to do something and actually improve the contract. Yeah it’s great but they missed a lot of little things. A MX delay over 5:45 should get a day room, shouldn’t have to be planned.
Get rid of Hot Reserve, Endeavor got rid of it in their new AIP. Republic doesn’t have hot reserve in DCA and they operate just fine
what other improvements should ALPA get us vs them just coasting along collecting their 1.8%

Well then… Go wave your magic wand and make it so! You do realize that you aren’t even in a bargaining cycle right now right? Management doesn’t even have to say a word about negotiations. ALPA doesn’t just pull levers and makes the company give in to their demands. Your best bet is to leave the regionals. Things have come a long long way since I was hired, but they’ll only throw so much money at it. And the long term money/QOL isn’t there.

At least the union leaders can be aware of what real line pilots want with an open thread vs whatever closed group they listen to is. That’s the goal of this, make them aware.
With the captain shortage the company should be aware too.

PSA and PDT ALPA listen to management. They talk a good game, but give management their wants every negotiation cycle. It takes the pilot group voting “no” to stop them.

Management will never take away Scheduling's ability to move the metal. "Most Respected" always meant doing whatever it took to have the best performance stats so that certain people looked good on the DAY and DFW cocktail circuits. As soon as TF pointed that out they stopped using that motto.
ALPA will never make the effort to thoroughly educate the pilot group about things already in the contract that can protect you. Just a solid understanding of Section 12 and 117 would allow any line pilot to seriously push back on scheduling, but for the last 5-6 years the guiding principle of MEC Leadership is not doing anything that would increase the chances of lifers having to find other work.
I'd say that the last chance of seeing significant change went away when the pilot group decided that electing an ex cop with zero knowledge as a Rep instead of someone who could actually do math at scale. No doubt management appreciated that little gesture from the pilots.
The good news is that PSA pilots are currently making mad stacks of cash, but there's also a reason some of those provisions sunset in ~20 months. Pay off all your debt while you can.

Paying your CA’s 200+/hr and check airmen double on top of that is unsustainable. Can assure you as soon AA declares BK you’ll be lucky to not go back to 2021 rates.

Call me an optimist but hopefully BK is off the table for a while. That said, even if they declared tomorrow if they went after the pay rates, either at mainline or the WOs, hiring and even retention will get a lot harder.
