I've been out of the loop for a while now as far as new hire classes. Seems like they have had two classes recently with about 6 new hires. All of which were based in Dayton. I assume that until they get a majority of the ATP/Type rides done for the FO's that the amount of classes will be limited. They did however just announce another 4 CA upgrades.

They have also started asking for LOA's from captains for the month of October. As well as a trip by trip basis LOA for the FO's. The reason for that is so that the guys/gals that do not have the ATP minimums can get their times up. Of course if you take the LOA as an FO, you do not get paid for your time off. And they only notify you 24 hours before the trip start to let you know if you have it off.

I hope not. The company seems to be abusing it to get trips flown for free.(pure speculation on my part just looking at the kind of assignments reserves are getting)

It's also creating an artificial shortage of reserves. There were 30+ reserves in CLT for sep. I will be close to breaking guarantee while trying not to fly.(last out)

I remember asking for late rsv and got 5am hot rsv twice. After that I never asked for anything lol

I heard new schedulers are nicer and more flexible now since we are a little fat on staff.

Are you based in CLT? Like I said I ask for last out and am getting called pretty much every day.

I'm sure DAY, and especially TYS are different.

Some people have been getting called.
But there really isn't a preferential hiring here. They may tell you that in the interview but now we are being looked at like every other applicant. And when we do the interviews we are asked the same interview questions as any other pilot.
We have check airmen, with a college degree, etc... that cannot get an interview.
The quickest way to mainline from PSA is either have a Daddy that works there or quit PSA and apply from the street. Now with a merger pending? And Doug P. stating that 1700 American Pilots could be on the street? Not sure if it would be a wise decision to go there. F/O to F/O, i would make the jump in an instant. But to give up 60% pay. Go from 3 weeks vacation to 1. And having to commute to PHL to swing gear on a 190. Then the risk of being furloughed.
Those that take the risk may get rewarded by quick movement when retirements hit. It's all a gamble.
So to answer your question. Is Yes people are getting called. People are leaving. But the selection process is not as simple as it used to be. It really isn't a preferential hiring.

Well said sir.. I think a few Whiskey drivers got calls to interview but I haven't heard anything about anyone leaving... I'm convinced airways doesn't like our pilots too much anyways lol.
