That's the point really... Kinda hard for the industry to improve when management keeps getting concessions from certain groups that are willing to sell out the other groups that are attempting to better our profession!

If you really want to raise the standards.. Quit your regional job.

LOL, Is this guy serious? This has been happening way way before PSA agreed to their contract. He needs to go study the industry back to when we walked.
According to him all was fine until PSA pilots voted in their contract.

It all started when Chautauqua pilots voted to undercut our contract we went on strike for 89 days to get.

No no, there's nothing wrong with that. PSA is the culprit here. Had they not have voted it in, comair wouldn't have gone on strike, northwest would still be around, and pan am would be a 20000 pilot airline by now

Really, nothing has changed in the industry since the Comair strike? The ATP requirement, 117 rest rules, the inability for Lakes, Silver, and Republic to staff, causing them to reduce flying, cancel flights, and get rid of entire fleets? You're right, no way should any pilot group ever try to stop the concessions... What were 83% at Expressjet thinking? What was the Envoy MEC thinking? How dare they say enough to greedy management that loves ever increasing salaries and bonuses for themselves!

Can anyone give me an idea of how commutable schedules are for new hires and which bases new hires are going to?
Looking to commute from ATL, but if QOL for a new hire is considerably better in base, we'd consider relocating to CLT or TYS.
Thanks for any info.

gold 03-30-2014 02:30 PM

Outstation bases have early shows and end late. Charlotte is commuter friendly, the MIA base will be too.

Lol we are not getting a MIA base. Is that the kool aide they are serving now at the interviews?

Apply to ExpressJet or Skywest, SKW base IAH and express base ATL. Both very easy commutes and respected more so than PSA. Also check into Air Wisconsin.

The information on aviationinterviews.com seems to be detailed and updated regularly. The information there comes from interview candidates and seems to contradict the naysayers here. PSA doesn't appear to have a problem filling classes. Apparently, they have contract instruction (flight safety, etc.) set up to handle any training backlogs, "IF NEEDED". Apparently, new hires go to ABC city to get trained....upgrades go to XYZ city to get trained. Just some FYI, good luck....http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/im...cons/icon7.gif

And where are these interview candidates getting their info?????? Company recruiters????? What do you think they are gonna say?? "This place sucks and you will likely never upgrade here or at any other regional cut to the fact that none can full their classes"? Or do you think they might tell you everything is A ok? Think about it, they are trying to sell you on the job. 9E is currently telling people that upgrade will be 2-3 years and that they are working on a flow to delta giving these gullible "candidates" false hope. I wouldn't believe anything you hear at any regional interview today.

PSASUX 03-30-2014 09:09 PM

As a new hire you won't have a commutable schedule. Even if you are CLT based. TYS seems to have the worst schedule for commuting. I've never been DAY based so I can't speak for their schedules.

Aren't all newbies put at CLT after training? How long does it take to get the requested domicile? And what are the chances of keeping it?

No.

Probably before training is done, if not a month or two after.

Once you have it you cannot be removed unless the base is reduced, or closed by the company(displacement) you can't be bumped out by another pilot.

Don't know the answer but I'd say very soon, or maybe even at the interview.

The sim is a desktop PCATD configured as a MD-80.

Good luck. You should have no problem getting based in TYS out of training.

bradeku1008 04-15-2014 10:34 AM

With half of the 900s going to CLT I'm sure you will be able to hold any base out of training.

It won't be too long tell TYS starts feeding into the AA DFW system.

Yes, KH has stated that the first 13 are going to CLT.

crzipilot 04-16-2014 01:49 PM

Heard KH was given option of Fire or Retire.....hence he's retiring, heard Dir. Trng gone too.

Anyone know if this is true?

Why the movement at the top of PSA? Was that at the direction of AA? Any implications for flight schedule going forward?

Knowing the man behind the screen name I'd say he's connected. He is in a position where there's interaction most aren't around daily... Anyway on the PSA site I noticed press articles... Some talking about the their maintenance team inspecting the first plane etc.... Looks to be a done deal... CLT also seems to make a whole lot of sense.

JetToy 04-21-2014 05:05 AM

Anyone on here in new employee training right now?

I was also in such a room where things like this were spoken by those who are in management.

gold 04-21-2014 07:44 AM

Airways is shifting some Mesa flying to the west coast to make room for PSA 900s in CLT.
