You could just be a tool and people don't like flying with you.

Is it so hard to believe that an occupation that has traditionally been dominated by older, conservative white males might have a streak of racism? When PSA was growing I heard and read several comments about the Eastern accents a lot of their new pilots seemed to have, as if it were some kind of problem. I won't even dive into all the comments I've heard about women, minorities, and lgbt people when it comes to getting the next job.

At the same time, OP, if you are looking for some kind of safe space, you are looking in the wrong industry. Be professional, friendly, and do your job and you'll be fine pretty much anywhere. But to answer your question: SkyWest, PSA, Commutair, and Piedmont are probably better choices to find what you seek. They are junior, more diverse carriers.

Racism. As a foreign pilot I had to deal with several cases with fellow pilots which made me leave the regionals.

I gave up to easy but I would like to know which regional is more friendly/supportive towards foreigners.

Thanks,

Shocked? How shocked were you when DC, Baltimore, Ferguson, Berkeley, and Detroit were being torn down?
Expand your info., horizons beyond BBC, CNN, or MSNBC.

As far as the foreign pilot thing goes, just how many gringos have been hired in your home nation? I am sure the reciprocity factor is way lopsided. It always is.

The OP isn't talking about hiring, it's more about being treated fairly by your fellow employees.

Also, in all fairness, foreign countries are hiring US pilots and offering a lot more money to do so than the US is offering to foreign pilots. This is especially true in Asia and the Middle East.

And that had hardly anything to do with the benevolence of these cultures to give unemployed American pilots jobs vice supply and demand.

The Charlottesville, a city I visit often and going to again this morning, statue of Robert E. Lee stood 93 years. Other CSA monuments, much longer. Grew up under stars & bars, sympathetic to the emotions of those not wanting to re-write or erase our past. What follows is only one person's worthless opinion. These symbols on public land perpetuate hateful stereotype's that only hold us back and harm our children. Far past time to move them elsewhere. A people, professing to respect our constitution, should be strong enough to accept that.

Man many of those jobs are contract jobs.

As far as the ME is concerned, you're fooling yourself if you think there isn't a bias/"racism" toward westerners/Americans.

In AND out of the cockpit.

I never questioned motives. Supply and demand drives the hiring market as it always has. I'm simply disputing Gundriver64's opinion using facts.

If an English pilot wanted to come here to fly passengers, he'd have to start as a regional FO making $30,000. Or.. he could go to Dubai or China and make six figures right away. Even some of the desperate regionals here won't sponser work visas for foreigners to fly for them. We don't exactly win the prize as far as hiring foreign pilots.

But again, hiring is not the subject of the OP's post so...

May I ask what your point is? Is that an excuse to exhibit bias and racism here? Especially towards Americans with "foreign" accents?

What's wrong with a high-paying contract job? Certainly attractive to people on furlough or who can't afford to net less than $30,000 as a regional FO.
