just got my reserve schedule and they have me on for 12 days with one day off in the middle......6 on 1 off 6 on.......can they do this? Just wondering because as a commuter I'll have to be away from home for just under a month to meet this type of schedule

Which airline do you work for? As far as can they do this? Yes they can. For example, at Skywest, our rules are written (and I think this is an FAA rule too) so that you are only guarunteed 24 hours free from duty in any 7 day period. So, in your case, 6 on and 1 off followed by 6 on is allowable by both the FAA and the company policy. As far as morally right, that's a different story altogether. But they do have to give you your guarunteed minimum days off in a month though, which is 10 at Skywest. Reserve is not fun especially if you commute.

I am at CMR and on reserve. (Just completed my 4th year on reserve as a captain). My schedule this month has me now on a stretch of 6 days with 1 off and then another 6 days. Then I get 3 off and do 6 on 1 off 6 on again. Sounds like it will be a fun couple of weeks.

i don't care what airline you are at. If you are on reserve you have no life.
